2021 Guide On Calculation Of Points For Admission Into Nigerian Universities
1. O'LEVEL RESULT: 40%
JAMB apportions 40% for O'level result. A candidate who made 5 As in WAEC or NECO in the 5 relevant subjects for admission automatically get 40%
See more breakdown below 2. UTME SCORE: 60%
Whatever you have as your JAMB score will contribute 60% of your total admission screening score in this order:
180-189 = 10%
A1- 8%
B2- 7%
B3- 6%
C4- 5%
C5- 4%
C6- 3%
190-199 = 20%
200-209 = 30%
210-219 = 40%
220-229 = 50%
230 and Above = 60%
Let's try a working example:
Ade wrote WAEC and had the following grades in his 5 relevant subjects for admission:
Maths - B2
English - A1
Chemistry - C5
Biology - B3
Physics - C4
Ade's score will therefore be:
Maths - 7%
English - 8%
Chemistry - 4%
Biology - 6%
Physics - 5%
Total = 30%
Ade then scored 220 in his JAMB UTME examination and from the above, 220 falls under 50%
Therefore, Ade's final Post UTME score will be total percentage of O'level result + total percentage of JAMB UTME result
That is, 30% + 50% = 80%
Ade's Post UTME score is 80% and his chance of gaining admission is high
